Ms Olivia Evans

PhD student

Olivia Evans holds a Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Bioscience (Hons) degree and her research interests are focused on aquaculture and disease interactions. After having done her Honours project in finfish aquaculture and nutrition, as well as some work experience in the industry, she contacted Professor Richard Whittington to do a PhD at The University of Sydney. Olivia applied for a competitive scholarship to work on POMS disease outbreaks in Australia, a problem that she found fascinating, and commenced her PhD in July 2012, supervised by Richard Whittington and Ika Paul-Pont. Her study is focused around the investigation of the transmission factors associated with Ostreid Herpesvirus (OsHV-1) in the Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas).
