Olivia Evans holds a Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Bioscience (Hons) and PhD and her research interests are focused on aquaculture and disease interactions. After having done her Honours project in finfish aquaculture and nutrition, as well as some work experience in the industry, she completed a PhD at The University of Sydney. Olivia received a competitive scholarship to work on POMS disease outbreaks in Australia, a problem that she found fascinating, and commenced her PhD in July 2012, supervised by Richard Whittington, Ika Paul-Pont and Paul Hick. Her study, which was completed in 2016, was focused on investigation of the transmission factors associated with Ostreid Herpesvirus (OsHV-1) in the Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas).
